Opportunities & Scholarships

Students at least 16-years-old are hired to assist directors in classes.   They have the opportunity to be an Assistant Director or Student Choreographer in Musical Theater classes and Showstopper classes.  Students learn real world job skills while working in a field they love.  These are paid positions.  

Students at least 12-years-old have the opportunity to apply to be a Tech Intern.  As a Tech Intern, the Student learns to operate sound, light, and special effects equipment in a real world capacity.  Students in this program attend a weekly class where they work with the directors in facilitating tech equipment during rehearsals.  They learn to listen for cues from both the actors and directors.   Through this program students learn the importance of teamwork.     Volunteer hours are earned in this program.  

Students at least 11-years old learn how things work backstage through practical experience.  In this program students work with costuming, props, and sets.  Being part of the backstage crew our students have the chance to be part of a real life work environment.   Each Intern is assigned specific jobs unique to a particular show.   Wardrobe Assistants help actors with quick changes and keep costumes ready to go for the next scene.  Stagehands move props and set pieces on and off stage and reset them for the next performance.  Students also have the opportunity to be promoted to management positions, such as Prop Manager, Wardrobe Manager and even Assistant Stage Manager.   

This Scholarship is to assist students entering college pursing a degree in Musical Theater.  It is available to any Pinellas County graduating  High School Senior who has demonstrated their love of Musical Theater by participating in local community theaters or local theater groups outside their school and who maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.  The value of this scholarship is up to $1000.
